About This Film
The term "psychopath" conjures up images of serial killers and is often confused with psychoticism or insanity, but the fact is that psychopaths live among us in great numbers and can appear to be normal, happy people.
Psychopaths, more often than not, are not criminally insane but are definitely morally insane; they are lacking a conscience and the ability to go inward and assess their actions and behaviors and take responsibility for them.
Mercilessly, they plow their way through people’s lives taking possessions, money, friends, dignity and pride. They are common in our society and most of us have brushed up against them at one time or another.
Some have lost everything to the psychopath without realizing how it happened and why it happened to them. With much regret and shame, the victim tries to rebuild his/her life and oftentimes never recovers financially, emotionally and/or mentally. Typically, the psychopath operates within guidelines of the law and cannot be prosecuted. They joyfully move on to the next victim once they have taken what they came for.
"Loving the Devil" is a contemporary documentary that offers much more than the analysis and traits of a psychopath. It shows how we can avoid an intimate or business relationship with a psychopath, how to exit a relationship with one once they are unmasked and how to recover gracefully from their wrath.
It offers the stories of four victims who have been victimized by the psychopath, how they unknowingly were manipulated and how they have dealt with their own recovery process.
"Loving the Devil" is a much needed perspective in today’s society where the dramatic upsurge in psychopathy is closing in on so many unsuspecting, loving and trusting people. It has been estimated that upwards of 30% of adult males and 10% of adult females exhibit psychopathic behavior in their daily lives.
These staggering statistics show us that it has become an acceptable way to behave in relationships and business. The questions we answer in our documentary are:
- Are all people who exhibit certain antisocial personality disorders psychopaths?
- How can we tell?
- What are the early warning signs?
- How do they get their hooks in us?
- How can we leave a psychopath who is committed to his or her relationship style?
- How can we rebuild our lives and recover?
- How can we avoid getting caught in their net again?
- How can parents avoid raising a psychopath?
In "Loving the Devil," a relationship expert; an author and expert on archetypes; a self-professed antisocial male; and a psychologist offer their take on why psychopathy exists, what the upside is to having had the psychopathic experience and what traits in the victims attract them.
Marion Trent, creator, founder and director of The Sociopathic Style™ (www.SociopathicStyle.com) heads this project with a keen awareness of this social disease. Having been a victim of psychopathy herself, she has studied this disorder since 2000 and was the first and only person in the country to start a nationwide recovery group for victims of psychopathic relationships.
What Ms. Trent discovered in working with hundreds of victims will astound the audience. This cutting-edge, never-before released information will fascinate and educate and it will bring groundbreaking self-help tools and healing information not only to victims, but to perpetrators as well.
